My Story

Hello, I’m Maria and I run The Viking Bakehouse, from my home in Romsey, Hampshire. That’s me, caught in action setting up one of my favourite cakes!

I’ve run The Viking Bakehouse for three years now after finally taking the plunge to turn a hobby and passion into a business. Having left the corporate world behind after 23 years, I can happily say that I’ve never looked back. As well as being a full-time business woman, at home I am wife to Tom and Mum to 3 beautiful children, so I am never bored, chance would be a fine thing.

When not caking or with the kids, I enjoy watching films or smashing through a boxset with the hubby and eldest child (we are generally way behind the times though!), singing along to the radio and given half the chance, can be found at Karaoke!

I’ve loved growing my cake business over the last few years and have enjoyed trying out new techniques and styles.  I am happiest when incorporating colour, whether that is subtle touches, bright and bold or dark and moody, adding texture, angles or lines and I don’t think there is ANY situation where a touch of gold doesn’t fit!

I am in my element when getting to know you, your event details, theme and colours. All this allows me to be able create something unique and bespoke for you.
